Eh! This just slipped out of my mind. How will XP feel more like Vista if the sounds remain the same? SO, thats why, someone extracted all the sounds from Vista so that the transformation could be truly completed. BTW , m not that someone. The following page contains the information on how to install the sounds. Easy to apply so have fun listening to the sounds of Vista.
Honestly, i never knew this thing till now. And when i learnt how its done, the first thing i said was WOW. My monitor never looked this big to me before, he eh. Anyways, this is one simple tut. All you need to do is, press the “F11″ key right now. Yes, right now. Looks good doesn’t it. And this thing works even when you’re browsing your folders and stuff.
If you exchange a lot of stuff with you friends through pendrives , then there’s a great chance that your pendrive might get effected by a virus or something. Now,turning off the autorun feature ensures that that virus doesn’t execute itself automatically on your system. This way, you can clean it before you open the pendrive. So to turn the autorun of portable drives off ,do this:
- Click Start –> Run
- Type in “gpedit.msc” without the quotes.
- Browse to Computer Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> System.
- Scroll down and you will find an entry by the name “turn off autoplay”.
- Double click it. Then in the settings tab, click on enabled option and then turn of all drives in the dropdown list.
- Ok and you’re done.
This one’s an easy tweak. you don’t really need to know your system that well to do this. Anyways, this is how you go about it:
- Click Start –> Run
- Type “regedit” without the quotes.
- Browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT-> CLSID-> {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.
- Now on the right side, you should see a list. Double click on the “(default)” file and change the name to whatever you want.
- Reboot and the name will be changed.
Hey, i just came across this article some days ago and though i should share it with you. We always end up fighting with our friends proving them that out antivirus is the best, but this article will bring peace among us considering that it proves which is the best antivirus afterall. .
The test was made on 23 April-10 May 2007, using Windows XP Professional SP2 on a P4 3000 Mhz, 1024MB DDRAM.
All programs tested had the latest versions, upgrades and updates and they were tested using their full scanning capabilities e.g. heuristics, full scan etc.
The default settings of each program were not used, in order for each program to achieve its maximum detection rate. Because of this, there is a possibility for the tested programs to detect a few false positives.
All programs were updated on 22 April 2007, between 10.00AM and 13.00PM GMT.
The 174770 virus samples were chosen using VS2000 according to Kaspersky, F-Prot, Nod32, Dr.Web, BitDefender and McAfee antivirus programs. Each virus sample was unique by virus name, meaning that AT LEAST 1 antivirus program detected it as a new virus.
ALL virus samples were unpacked and the only samples that were kept were the ones that were packed using external-dos-packers (that means not winzip, winrar, winace etc).
The virus samples had the correct file extension using a special program (Renexts) and were unique, according to checksum32 filesize.
Most “fake” virus samples were removed, as well as “garbage” files.
The following file types were used.
SH, ELF, COM, EXE, PL, BAT, PRC, DOC, XLS, BIN, MDB, IMG, PPT, VBS, MSG, VBA, OLE, HTM, INI, SMM, TD0, REG, CLASS, HTA, JS, VI_, URL, PHP, WMF, HLP, XML, SCR, PIF, SHS, WBT, CSC, MAC, DAT, CLS, STI, INF, HQX, XMI, SIT.
The virus samples were divided into these categories, according to the type of the virus :
File = BeOS, FreeBSD, Linux, Mac, Palm, OS2, Unix, BinaryImage, BAS viruses, MenuetOS.
MS-DOS = MS-DOS viruses.
Windows = Win.*.* viruses.
Macro = Macro, Multi and Formula viruses.
Malware = Adware, DoS, Constructors, Exploit,
Flooders, Nukers, Sniffers, SpamTools, Spoofers, Virus Construction
Tools, Droppers, PolyEngines.
Script = ABAP, BAT, Corel, HTML, Java, Scripts, MSH, VBS, WBS, Worms, PHP, Perl, Ruby viruses.
Trojans-Backdoors = Trojan and Backdoor viruses.

This thing works, this thing really really works. I’ve tried it and now, m loving it
.
- Click Start –> Run
- Type in “msconfig”.
- Go to Startup in the tabs above. You will see a list of applications that startup when your system starts.
- Now observe them, if you dont know what they are, then Google them, but most importantly, do not change the setting of any of the system applications( Audio Softwares, Antiviruses, Graphic Adapters and system files)
- The applications which are ticked are the one’s which start on startup. Disable them only if you know that they are not required there. Like,Yahoo Messenger need not be there, so you can disable it if you wish to.
- Once done diabling the ‘not-required’ items, Click Apply and the computer will then ask you to restart. Do so and the system should reboot faster.
This is one of the simplest and the coolest tricks that i can remember of. What you can do with it is that you can hide a folder on the desktop itself or at any other location without actually changing its attributes to hidden. How ? Well, Keep Reading !
- First create a new folder somewhere on your hard drive
- When you name it hold down “Alt” and press “0160″. This will create an invisible space so it will appear as if it has no name.
- Then right click it and select “Properties”.
- Select the tab “customize” and select “change icon”. Scroll along and you should see a few blank spaces. Click on any one
- Click OK. Now when you have saved the settings the folder will be invisible.
