If you exchange a lot of stuff with you friends through pendrives , then there’s a great chance that your pendrive might get effected by a virus or something. Now,turning off the autorun feature ensures that that virus doesn’t execute itself automatically on your system. This way, you can clean it before you open the pendrive. So to turn the autorun of portable drives off ,do this:
- Click Start –> Run
- Type in “gpedit.msc” without the quotes.
- Browse to Computer Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> System.
- Scroll down and you will find an entry by the name “turn off autoplay”.
- Double click it. Then in the settings tab, click on enabled option and then turn of all drives in the dropdown list.
- Ok and you’re done.
